I have ten years of experience teaching up to A-level mathematics, including the time I've spent teaching IGCSE Mathematics in an international school in Doha. I became a tutor so that I would have more opportunities to work with students in a one-on-one learning environment. Math tutoring is especially beneficial for students because of the nature of mathematics instruction. In math studies, perhaps more so than any other subject, what one learns is always based upon what one previously learned. For example, you cannot learn multiplication if you do not have a firm understanding of addition. For students who are struggling with multiplication then, it would be important to go back and make sure they were able to easily complete multi-digit addition problems. This is the type of thing that is very difficult to go back and review in a classroom setting but that is ideally suited for work with at tutor.
