I have been tutoring for nearly a year and I enjoy the interactive nature of teaching and learning. I work primarily with elementary and middle school students in the subjects of science, language arts, reading, and math. Working with a student in a one-on-one learning environment has a number of benefits. It gives me the opportunity to get to know the academic needs of the student and then tailor my instructional efforts based specifically on those needs. This helps prevent students from becoming frustrated by repeating information they already know by allowing us to focus on only those topics they are struggling with. It also offers a greater level of instructional flexibility. For example, if we had planned to review science coursework during a session but the student arrives with math questions, we can easily switch focus so the most personally relevant content is addressed first.
